Operation

The 400e Gen 2 Metal is powered by an included 11.1V Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery and USB Balanced Charger, eliminating the need to purchase them separately. With the ambidextrous AR-15 style selector switch, you can easily swap between full-auto, semi-auto, or safe modes. The battery is connected to a high RPM motor and gearbox, designed to withstand extreme force and extended firing sessions. Unlike many airguns, the 400e performs great in all types of weather, with virtually no performance decline in temperatures between 32F (0C) and 90F (32C).

Materials

The 400e Gen 2 Metal is built like a real rifle with a full CNC aluminum receiver and handguard. It includes M-LOK® compatible accessory slots on the handguard for modular flexibility. The polymer 6-position adjustable buttstock with sloping cheek weld balances support and user comfort. It also features a strengthened buffer tube for added durability and includes QD sling mount and slot for other straps.

Accessories

Ammo Compatibility

The 400e Gen 2 Metal is engineered to perform well with a variety of .177 caliber steel BBs, offering shooters a high degree of flexibility in their ammo choices. Its Standard barrel (equipped on all 400e Gen 2 Metal rifles sold July 2025 and later) is designed for reliable operation across a broad range of BBs. This means it’s less sensitive to minor variations in BB size, shape, or surface finish, allowing you to shoot confidently with different brands without frequent jams or feeding issues. The Standard barrel is ideal for casual plinking, high-volume shooting sessions.

If you purchased your 400e Gen 2 Metal between October 2024 and June 2025, your rifle came equipped with our Precision barrel. This barrel is machined to much tighter internal tolerances, delivering improved accuracy and consistency shot after shot. However, those tighter tolerances also make it more selective about ammo. To get the best results and prevent feeding problems in the Precision barrel, we strongly recommend using Barra Zinc-Plated .177 Caliber BBs, which are precisely machined and polished to meet the barrel’s specifications.

If you’re looking to upgrade or replace your barrel, we offer complete Standard Barrel Kits and Precision Barrel Kits. Whether you stick with the Standard barrel for maximum ammo flexibility or move to the Precision barrel to push the limits of accuracy, the 400e Gen 2 Metal lets you tailor performance to your shooting style and goals.

BATTERY REQUIREMENTS The 400e Gen 2 Metal includes a 3S (11.1V) LiPo battery with a 25-35C rating and Deans (T-Plug) connection. A balanced charger is also included for safe charging and battery maintenance. Using a battery that meets these standards is crucial for maintaining the performance and longevity of your rifle.

COST TO OPERATE The 400e Gen 2 Metal is extremely efficient to operate and more than *100 times cheaper per shot than a full auto CO2 rifle. A 40-count CO2 pack costs about $25 and gets approximately 2,000 shots with a full-auto CO2 BB rifle. The included LiPo battery and balanced charger provide 200,000-400,000 shots when properly maintained.

*Energy cost for battery usage was calculated based on The National Average Energy cost of 14.8 cents kWh, a 2200 mAh battery, and an 800 mA B3 charger. Energy cost for CO2 based on 60 cent cost per cylinder and 100 shots per two cylinders.
