Is Modern Soccer Losing Its Passion?

  • Hey everyone,
I’ve been watching soccer since the early 2000s, and I can’t help but feel like something’s changed. The game feels more commercialized now—huge transfer fees, sponsorships everywhere, and less loyalty from players. Do you think modern soccer is losing its passion?

  • Hey, I totally get where you're coming from. Modern soccer does feel more like a business now—with insane transfer fees, endless sponsorships, and players switching clubs frequently. Loyalty seems rare these days. That said, I still see passion in the fans and in key matches. The excitement around promotion battles, like in the Championship, is proof. Just check this out: https://thefootballfaithful.com/championship-the-favourites-to-win-play-off-promotion/ It shows that heart and ambition still drive many teams. The passion isn’t gone—it’s just evolved.

  • get that, but the playoffs can feel unfair to the team finishing 3rd after a long season.
