Catch those fired bullet shells

  • Some time ago one of the members asked for ideas as to how to capture the spent shells as they fly out of the receiver when you cock the model 1866 rifle. I spend more time searching for the empty shells than I do firing. Waiting for  some original  ideas?????

  • Nothing original here, but since they fly out the top the ejection can be controlled.  In the wild however, even good ejection control is very difficult.  We are talking about the Barra 1866 CO2 correct?  I use the .22 caliber gold finish.  Very difficult to keep the gold finish clean.  Most folks have given up, but I keep trying.

  • Update:  I'm going to try Fitz Gun and Knife Wax.  This is cheaper then Renaissance brand museum grade protectant.
