The 400e Gen 2 Polymer is engineered to perform well with a variety of .177 caliber steel BBs, offering shooters a high degree of flexibility in their ammo choices. Its Standard barrel (equipped on all 400e Gen 2 Polymer rifles sold July 2025 and later) is designed for reliable operation across a broad range of BBs. This means it’s less sensitive to minor variations in BB size, shape, or surface finish, allowing you to shoot confidently with different brands without frequent jams or feeding issues. The Standard barrel is ideal for casual plinking, high-volume shooting sessions.
If you purchased your 400e Gen 2 Polymer between October 2024 and June 2025, your rifle came equipped with our Precision barrel. This barrel is machined to much tighter internal tolerances, delivering improved accuracy and consistency shot after shot. However, those tighter tolerances also make it more selective about ammo. To get the best results and prevent feeding problems in the Precision barrel, we strongly recommend using Barra Zinc-Plated .177 Caliber BBs, which are precisely machined and polished to meet the barrel’s specifications.
If you’re looking to upgrade or replace your barrel, we offer complete Standard Barrel Kits and Precision Barrel Kits. Whether you stick with the Standard barrel for maximum ammo flexibility or move to the Precision barrel to push the limits of accuracy, the 400e Gen 2 Polymer lets you tailor performance to your shooting style and goals.
